LPAR2RRD 6.11 - issue with graphic zoom

Hi,

I'm facing an issue with graphic zoom on lpar2rrd.

The information on my installation of lpar2rrd :

LPAR2RRD HOME
LPAR2RRD version 6.11
LPAR2RRD edition free
OS info AIX
Perl version This is perl, v5.8.8 built for ppc-thread-multi
Web server info Apache/2.4.18 (Unix)
RRDTOOL version 1.4.8
RRDp version 1.4008

I have an issue when I try to zoom on a graph "OS memory : last week" of an LPAR. For exemple, I try to zoom on a large period fo 2 days (22:14 28-Mar-2020 ⟶ 6:11 30-Mar-2020), the zoom never succeed. On the contrary, if I try to zoom on the same graph with a smaller period (4:58 29-Mar-2020 ⟶ 16:15 29-Mar-2020), zoom succeed.

When the zoom failed, on the lpar2rrd server I have the following process:

/opt/freeware/bin/perl /home/lpar2rrd/lpar2rrd/bin/detail-graph-cgi.pl
/usr/bin/rrdtool

And rddtool process use a lot of CPU.

Can you help me on this problem?

  • Hi,

There was Daylight Saving Time last weekend, right?
    Are you on AIX?

There is a problem of rrdtool on AIX after Daylight Saving Time, we know that for years but no idea what we can do, problem is not in our software.
It does not happen for all AIX users. Problem disappears when Daylight Saving Time change is more than 24 old (it is out of daily graph)

However if you zoom time when time was changed then it appears again.
It will be definitelly gone after 2 months when 1 minute data will be averaged.

meanwhile kill all hanging processes, rrdtool and detail-cgi...
there is no workaround unfortunatelly :(
