lpar2rrd alerts without attachment

After migrating LPAR2RRD from AIX to Linux (and try of migration of data), I get alert mails without attachments.
On the same time the AIX-based LPAR2RRD sends the same alert including a small png attachment.
In the mail and in the alert log there is no hint or error message regarding missed files.
Can anybody help?

  • Is there any relation to the 'nagios' switch?
  • Hi,

    is the issue for IBM Power CPU (HMC based) or OS agent based data, or both?
  • no, related is this parameter:
    Include graphs : 25
    It means last 25 hours will be in the graph.
    When it is 0 then no graphs

  • Hello Pavel, first on Linux it was on NAGIOS=1, then I changed to NAGIOS=0 similar to AIX. But this change doesn't help.
    Now we have options:
    NAGIOS=0
    EXTERN_ALERT=bin/external_alert_example.sh
    EMAIL_GRAPH=25
    REPEAT_DEFAULT=60
    PEAK_TIME_DEFAULT=30
    TRAP=
    COMM_STRING=
    MAILFROM=
    WEB_UI_URL=

    The alert is:
    LPAR:::SAN_RESP:50:10:15::AIX_Events::

  • pls answer of above question:

    is the issue for IBM Power CPU (HMC based) or OS agent based data, or both?

  • the issue is on both types of alerting. SAN RESP is measured by agent and CPU Pool utilization is measured in HMC.
  • ok, lets simulate alert and provide us output

    1. set some new alert on CPU pool or LPAR CPU, something small like 0.01 value

    2. run this and send us log

    /home/lpar2rrd/lpar2rrd/load_alert.sh 2>&1 | tee x.log

  • file is uploaded
  • Issue resolved!

    In output from load_alert I found a hint regarding missing uuencode and this is really not installed on this vm. I installed from RHEL7 repo sharutils, which contains uuencode.
    # yum install sharutils

    Now all alerts containing the missing graphs.
