IBM HMC V11 R1 Disabled 12443 and Enabled 443 for HMC REST API's

Hello,

IBM HMC V11 R1 disabled port 12443 and enabled port 443 for the HMC REST API's. LPAR2RRD v8.06 doesn't seem to support port 443 for HMC REST API, is there a fix for this?

Cheers, Richard

Security Enhancements:

  • New GUI interface for certificate management functions such as Trust store management and import certificates need for the services such as rsyslog, powersc, etc. MFA allow list is also enabled on this interface.
  • Rest API access via port 12443 is disabled. Use port 443 instead for accessing HMC Rest APIs."\

Comments

  • port 443 is supported for years in lpar2rrd, edit HMC properties in lpar2rrd and set 443 instead 12443, it is all.

  • Pavel - Thank you for the advice.

One last question: what file -or- configuration screen do I use to set the HMC port properties?

    Cheers, Richard

  • UI --> settings --> IBM Power --> HMC --> <select HMC> --> change port to 443

BTW, you might already hear we have a new monitoring tool called XorMon. It's the replacement for LPAR2RRD and STOR2RRD.

You can find more information here: https://xormon.com/documentation-ng.php .

I recommend testing it out at least, it's a much better tool. It has many new features compared to our older tools.

LPAR2RRD neither STOR2RRD not being further developed, just bug fixes and small enhancements.

  • Pavel,

Thank you for the setting instructions. I was unable to find a port setting in the "HMC connection settings" GUI. Instead I updated the "hosts.json" file settings for "api_port" to "443".

About XorMon, is it free like LPAR2RRD?

    Cheers, Richard

  • yep, XorMon is free with some limitations, same like lpar2rrd, no difference in this

  • Pavel - Thank you! One last question: will XorMon import existing LPAR2RRD data? - Cheers, Richard
