Hi,

I'm trying to collect metrics from a NetApp FAS, using the latest version of stor2rrd running in docker.
The stor2rrd user on the netapp side has all permissions/role configured properly.

I'm able to capture capacity metrics but nothing else, and I keep getting the same error when testing the config (see error below).

I have the same config working in 2 other sites with no issues.

HI guys need some help trying to configure the 7mode netapp nodes, but seems that I'm having an issue with the process.

I can have followed every steps except the following below.

I'm able to mount but no stor2rrd user .ssh directory only root.

# mount netapp-7mode:/ /mnt
# cat /home/stor2rrd/.ssh/id_rsa.pub >> /mnt/etc/sshd/stor2rrd/.ssh/authorized_keys2
# umount /mnt

Also getting this on the controller.

Export is this.

/vol/vol0 -sec=sys,rw,anon=0,nosuid

and when I query I get this.

Hello!

We are using the latest docker version of STOR2RRD running on CentOS hosts.
We use docker volume mapping for the data and config folders to have persistent data storage.
The issue is the same on 2 different instances, on various sites, with several NetApp FAS and AFF devices.

Our NetApp devices are configured using NetApp FAS CDOT and all the tests are successful when ran.
We do get the capacity metrics but not the IO's anymore: we briefly got some perf metrics when we deployed the container but then it stopped.

I tried updating the naperf.pl file (ONTAP v9.5 bug) but it hasn't fixed the issue so far...

As a side note, our E-series are working well, getting both capacity and performance metrics.

Any suggestion(s) on what could be wrong?

I am now experiencing the following error since changing the role of the stor2rrd user from monitor to admin for ssh

Inconsistencies for data rate for nodes and for ports (cdot)

Hello,

we have inconsistencies for some of our NetApps in the representation of the data rate for the nodes and for the ports.

In this example there is only throughput for node A and nothing for B.
There seems to be also a wrong label for the Y axis: about a factor 1000 to small compared to the real values, which can be seen for example in the picture for the rate by protocol.

In contrast, the picture for the ports shows node B (e0h/e0g) with throughput.

In Grafana the ports are displayed correctly.

We have two FAS8200 (ONTAP 9.5P8 resp. 9.5P6) with this behaviour, and two FAS8200 (ONTAP 9.5P8 resp. 9.5P6), where it looks ok.
And there is also a FAS2750 (9.5P6) with these inconsistencies.

I’ve also upgraded STOR2RRD to 8.21-16 without improvement.

SMcli issue

Hello.

I have stor2rrd setup with ~50 different NetApp storages registered.
Every 1-2 weeks SMcli gets corrupted here and I have to clean up it completely and install again.
Vendor told me that SMcli can't work the way then it runs in 30-50 instances at a time. Most probably, it works with files with no any locks system, so at some moment (pretty rare in other circumstances) two SMcli processes can modify set of files in wrong sequence.
After that SMcli returns error 12 every time.
I tried steps from your wiki, it doesn't help.

I have these recommendations from NetApp. If you want to implement them or design you own queue/lock system over SMcli - it would be great.
For now I'm thinking about some kind of wrapper over SMcli with internal queueing.

NetApp options:

Split the SMcli requests into batches on separated systems (as we discussed already )
Restrict the job so you are polling only one array at a time but every 5 seconds so its serial not parallel
Lastly we have a new product called SANtricity Web Services which uses REST API calls is designed for this type of job. In fact you can use test REST API’s directly to the arrays web server

And:

create additional SMcli scripts pointing to a different data dir. The SMcli reads and writes multiple files in the data dir
Create new data dir. The default data dir is /var/opt/SM. I went with the pattern /var/opt/SM/N where N is 1 to 50.
Then copy the SMcli to SMcliN. Modify the SMcliN file and change the “-Ddevmgr.datadir=/var/opt/SM” to “-Ddevmgr.datadir=/var/opt/SM/N”.
If they wanted to keep using the “-n” option with the CLI (specify array by name) they would either need to copy the emwdata_v04.bin file from /var/opt/SM to /var/opt/SM/N or add the array or arrays they want to use with the SMcliN command (SMcliN -A Address1 Address2).
If they used the IP or domain name addresses of the storage arrays in the CLI command, they wouldn’t need to do this last step: SMcliN 10.0.0.1 10.0.0.2 -c "show storageArray healthStatus;"
Any number of these could be created. Each one would use less than 100KB. This is the quick approach to see if it would resolve the issue.
If it does, this could be made such that a new SMcli script is modified to parse the -n parameter for the array name, look for the existence of a /var/opt/SM/ARRAY_NAME directory and create it if it doesn’t exist and copy the emwdata_v04.bin file, and then set the devmgr.datadir path to this directory.

after browsing the inactive volumes table it was found some volumes are actually active. Example last one on snap1 is supposedly inactive however snap2 shows that the volume has been used on and off for days.

Hello everybody,
I'm testing the stor2rrd product, to check the data in our enviroment (a cluster of two aff-a300).
The tool version is the one supplied with the latest appliance:

STOR2RRD version	2.61
STOR2RRD edition	free
OS info	Linux
Perl version	This is perl 5, version 16, subversion 3 (v5.16.3) built for x86_64-linux-thread-multi
Web server info	Apache
RRDTOOL version	1.4.8
RRDp version	1.4008

I've configured the new storage, using as vendor the AFF-A-series device.
But when I try the connection test, this is the output:

API host network connection: TCP connection to 10.46.4.89:443 is OK.
Crontab test: OK

API authorization: NOK

Under user: lpar2rrd
ssh command failed: "ssh -o ConnectTimeout=80 -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no -o PreferredAuthentications=publickey -o SendEnv=no  stor2rrd@xx.xx.xx.xx "stats start -I 1 system""
  "stats" is not supported: use the (privilege: advanced) "statistics { start | stop | show } -object " command.

It seems like not a normal connection issue, but a different sets of command.
Does anybody have the same issue during the connection test?

we upgraded to ONTAP 9.5P1. After that the collection of performance data stopped working.

There are lots of error in the error.log:

I have configured two NetApp storage in stor2rrd. One of them seems good (NetApp Release 8.3.1P2), but in the other one I can't see the performance data (NetApp Release 9.5P3). Some configuration data is also not visible (for example teh nodes or ports). I think I configured the two storages in the same way.

What could be the problem?

hello, my organization has implemented a xorux virtual appliance : lpar2rrd for vmware and stor2rrd for netapp monitoring . My problem resides with stor2rrd : - we have three netapp systems :

- a cmode AFF A300, a 7-mode FAS 3220 and another 7-mode FAS 2240.

I've successfully configured c-mode monotoring with ssh, http and https (22,80,443) .

Then, added the other two systems in storage-list.cfg, also can do ssh for the 4 nodes in 7-mode (two nodes for FAS3320 and two nodes for FAS2240)

- Cannot heve feedback on the 7-mode nodes with config_check.

- ./load.sh gives following error : Exiting 7mode-alias as some core cfg file is missing: config.html || pool.cfg || volumes.cfg have tried several ways to troubleshoot unsuccessfuly.

Can anyone help ? -

for one of our ONTAP 9.1 System the performance data in Stor2RRD stopped 2 weeks ago. Our other systems are displaying just fine. I can't remember that we did changes on the systems.

Today I upgraded Stor2RRD from 2.01 to 2.20. This did not resolve the issue. But after the upgrade the historical performance data of the affected system is not displaying any more :-(

With 2.01 we received this messeges in /home/lpar2rrd/stor2rrd/logs/error.log:

netapp 7-mode filer

I have had my unix machine added to the root trusted host list however whenever I mount the file system it tells me the dir/file does not exist if I cd down to sshd and try and create the stor2rrd fold it tells me I cannot write to the read-only file system. I changed the mount to mount -o rw array:/ mnt still no good any ideas?

Hi I am new to stor2rrd and installed in to monitor a lot of arrays.
Right now I have 7 netapp cdot arrays defined but there is nothing in the Volumes TOP screen except Volume top has not been created. Any Ideas why this might be?
